Just walking around Cali ...

Lots of recyclers,  sorting what's left on the streets, in bags and garbage cans. Some specialize in plastics, some with paper ...

I wish I had my camera earlier toady on the way to the bank.  I passed a shop where they weigh and pay the recyclers... big bags earn little money .. but I suppose every little bit helps ..

El Salvador / Cali Airport / Hotel Plaza Las Americas

Only 5 minutes between flights ... had to run maybe like a couple blocks.  El Salvador airport located in the of San Salvador is small, with LONG runway.

Avianca Airlines served a choice of 2 meals.  A chicken/ with cheese sauce/potatoes/broccoli, roll, or Lasagna.  I choose the chicken.  I was impressed.  Drinks are free ... I choose red Johnny Walker, double on the rocks, 2 times.  Felt good during 4 1/2 hour flight..  Great entertainment System.

Forgot to mention, Alaska Airlines now has plugin at every seat, and complimentary WiFi.  Great entertainment utilizing your cell phone.

2 + hour flight to Cali served Lasagna meal.  Lasagna was good.  Drank one more Johnny Waller (Red) on the rocks, Double.  :)  Landed in Cali at 11:59pm.

Cali airport small.  Pass through immigration was not traumatic, but polite.  Customs opened bags but  no problems.  Taxi pay window was to the left out the door.,  $16 US to hotel.  1/2 hour drive.  Friendly Taxi driver.  He used to work in Boise.  One time he drove from Miami to Walla Walla..  Edier was impressed with Yellow Stone.  Hotel shuttle would have cost $20 US, plus a wait.  I trust Edier.  His card reads::  Servicio de Taxi, Aeropuerto - Todo destine. Edier Valencia  Cel:  318 356 2433.  Taxi ride was pleasant.  I will call him next week for trip back to airport.

Hotel Plaza las Americas has been comfortable, huge 3 room flat.  Clean, friendly, GREAT complimentary breakfast.  OK neighborhood (I had no problems).  Super Mercado around the corner.  Great Charbroiled chicken  outside restaurant on the corner.  Cash-in Money Gram at Davivienda.just about 7 blocks away.  10 to 12 block walk to main Cali Bus Terminal.

First time I shower with 5 shots of water at the same time.  Huge room.  3 beds, I only used one.  2 TVs (I am not sure why).  Clean and comfortable.  Cool staff.  Great fresh cooked to serve complimentary breakfast. Pool and Gym. Marble floor is slippery when feet are wet.  Fridge. 2 very quiet air conditioners  Couch and 2 chairs.  For about $35 US per night.  I needed the sleep.  WiFi strong.  Telephone in bathroom ... I did not receive any calls while in shower.... :)

Here is the picture above the head of my bed... :)  Must be the matrimonial suite...

I needed some sleep, and I got it here:  I reserved room off of priceline.com.  Hotel Plaza las Americas, Calle 21 Norte 3n 34, Cali, CO  123456, +5726676692  A little english spoken here.  Email, and reply is in english

Flight from SeaTac to LA

Nice flight.  Plane was packed.

Flight left at 7:30am.  Airport quiet at 5am.  No wait in TSA Pre-check line.  Nice.  Left Rodeway Inn too early for complimentary breakfast.  Ate at Wendy's, ordered a Sausage Biscuit.  I like McDonald's biscuit better.

Mount Rainier stood tall.

SEATAC ... Next Stop LA!!! :) ivan

I left Grand Coulee with sunshine at a cool 17 degrees F.  The eastern rising sun was hard on the eyes.  By the time I reached Airway Heights it was snowing pretty good.  11:30am flight.

Made it to Seattle  before 1pm.

Stayed over night at the SeaTac Rodeway Inn.

Not a bad room for $35 per night. Purchased room off of Hotwire.com

Only took 15 minutes to walk to Rodway Inn.  From SeaTac, take walkway to Taxi/Shuttle pickup area.  Follow sign to Sound Light Rail Transit station.  Go to walkway over International Blvd/Hwy 99.  Go south to 176th.  Turn left 1/2 block and turn left.  Rodeway Inn is at end of paved alley.  Denny's is close by north a few blocks up International Blvd/99.  7/11 up 176th 1/2 block on corner.

Great shuttle service from Rodeway Inn.

I felt lucky so far.  Pre Check line twice now.
